You have just spilled coffee on the carpet, or a chocolate shake or you fill in the blank. If you leave it for the janitorial crew who will not be in the building until that evening you run the risk of “staining” your carpet permanently. Stain means “not able to remove”. The things we eat and drink and spill on all of the surfaces throughout our offices have dyes in them must be cleaned up properly and some need to be cleaned up right away. Waiting for the janitorial crew to find the spill is a okay option; leaving them a note in the logbook is even a better option and they will clean it to the best of their ability and to the resources available to them. How can you help?

With the advent of the microfiber towel, micro fiber mops and anything else that can be made using this fabric is a great tool to have in any office or home. I am not going to endorse any specific maker here but some towels are better than other and you will need to try several that are on the market to find one you like.

So what do you do if you have a spill? Please do not use anything except water to start with, unless you have a wet and dry vacuum or a carpet extractor you can “set the stain” into the surface. Wet the microfiber towel with water wipe up the spill. It may take several times to get it all but at least you may have prevented permanent damage to the surface. DO NOT use chemicals with micro fiber towels it just too much for most surfaces. Great towels to have around. By the way I just spilled a chocolate protein shake on the carpet. WHAT A MESS! So I grabbed the micro fiber towel, wet it down and removed all the spill, no stain remains, nothing. NICE! Results may vary but you get the picture. Have a happy clean day.
